추석을 앞두고 벌초를 한다. 작년에도 벌초를 하였다. 산소가 산 중턱 위에 있다. 군 부대 훈련장으로 있는 곳에 산소가 자리를 잡고 있다. 군 부대에서 산소 주위를 둘러 조상숭배라고 하는 표지와 둘레 줄을 해 주었다. 휘발유를 넣고 사용하는 예초기를 가지고 간다. 벌초를 낫으로 하다가 시간도 많이 걸리고 힘이 들어 예초기를 준비하였다. 예초기는 차를 산 밑에 주차하고, 거기서부터 등에 지고 올라간다. 아래 사진은 "풀베는 기계"로 깍는 장면이다.
