한 시간이라도 깨어 있어 기도하자

Let's stay awake for even an hour and pray.

기도하라고 성경에서는 반복하여 말씀하고 있다. 기도만큼 성경이 강조하고 있는 것도 없다. 이 기도에 대한 강조는 예수님 사역의 중심 엔진과 같은 것이라고 할 수 있다. 기도로 시작하고 기도로 살고 기도로 마치는 것이 예수님의 일생이다. 그러나 예수님의 기도는 정적인 기도가 아니었다. 예수님의 기도는 행동하는 삶이었다. 기도하고 그것으로 끝난 것이 아니라 기도로 하나님 아버지께 도움을 요청하고, 그것을 힘입어 전도하고, 제자 삼고, 문제가 있는 사람들을 고쳐주셨다. 

The Bible says again and again to pray. Nothing is more emphasized by the Bible than prayer. The emphasis on this prayer is the same as the central engine of the Temple of Jesus. It is the life of Jesus that begins with prayer, lives with prayer, and ends with prayer. But Jesus' prayer was not a static prayer. Jesus' prayer was a life of action. He prayed and did not end up with it, but with prayer he asked God's father for help, and he preached it on the strength of it, made his disciples, and healed those in trouble.

예수님의 기도는 잠자는 침묵하는 기도가 아니라 기도하였으면 그 기도한 내용을 따라 움직이는 선한 행위였다. 다른 사람들이 찾아올 때 까지 기다리는 것이 아니라 모르는 사람, 문제가 있는 사람을 찾아가셨다. 예수님에게 높은 사람은 낮은데 있는 필요를 요청하는 사람들이 상전이었다. 내가 온 것은 대접을 받으려고 온 것이 아니라 섬기려고 오셨다고 하신 그 말씀을 이루는 것이었다.

Jesus' prayer was not a sleeping silent prayer, but a good deed that, if it had been prayed, would move according to its prayer. He did not wait until others came, but went to the stranger, the person in question. For Jesus, the high man was the high man who called for a low need. What I came here was not to be treated, but to fulfill what he said he had come to serve.

그러나 사람들은 그것을 이해하지 못했다. 예수님은 사람들에게 사랑으로 찾아갔지만 사람들은 예수님이 누구인지 알지 못하고 반대하고, 적대시하였으며, 심지어 끝날 에는 십자가에 못 박는 죄를 범하기까지 하면서도 자신들이 예수님을 죽인 죄가 무엇인지도 깨닫지 못했다. 예수님이 선을 행하고도 미움을 받고, 모함을 받으면서도 한 사람 한 사람에 대한 구원을 위하여 찾아간 것은 기도의 힘이었다.

But people didn't understand that. Jesus went to people with love, but they did not know who Jesus was, they opposed him, they antagonized him, they even committed a crucifixion at the end, and they did not realize what they were guilty of killing him. It was the power of prayer that Jesus did good and was hated, and that he went to the rescue of each and every one of them, even though he was framed.

기도의 힘은 침묵하는 것이 아니라 행동하는 양심이었다. 예수님은 늘 사람들을 바라볼 때 외모로 바라보지 않았다. 그 사람이 구원을 받을만한 영혼인가? 아닌가? 에 관심이 있었다. 사람은 외모로 보고 판단을 한다. 그러나 그것이 얼마나 헛된 것인지를 예수님은 알고 있었다. 외모를 아무리 여러 가지로 포장을 하고 있어도 그 영혼이 구원받을 만한 사람이 아니면 얼마나 불쌍한지를 꿰뚫어보고 계셨다. 그래서 예수님은 한 사람을 볼 때 구원을 위해서 기도하시면서 나아갔다. 기회를 주어도 믿지 못하는 것은 자신의 책임이다. 기회를 주었을 때 예수님을 믿으면 구원을 얻었다.    

The power of prayer was not silence but conscience to act. Jesus never looked at people with his looks. Is he a soul worthy of redemption? No? I was interested in something. A man makes judgments by his appearance But Jesus knew how futile it was. No matter how many things he had on his face, he saw through his heart how poor it was if he was not a man worthy of redemption. So when Jesus saw a man, he went on praying for salvation. It is one's own responsibility to give a chance but not to believe it. If you believe Jesus when you give him a chance, you are saved.

예수님이 기도하라고 하신 것은 자신이 복 받기 위한 이기적인 기도를 하라고 하지 않았다. 기도의 가르침은 하나님의 영광을 위하여, 교회를 위하여, 영혼 구원을 위하여, 시험에 들지 않게 항상 깨어 기도하라는 것이었다. 이렇게 강조하였음에도 불구하고 피곤한 육신으로 인하여 깨어 기도하지 못하고 제자들은 잠을 자기도 했다. 오늘 우리들도 피곤하지만 이것을 이기고 깨어 한 시간이라도 기도하자. 기도할 제목이 어느 때보다도 많은 시국을 살고 있다.

What Jesus asked me to pray did not say that I should pray selfishly to be blessed. The teaching of prayer was to always pray for the glory of God, for the church, for the salvation of the soul, not to be tested. Despite this emphasis, the tired body kept the disciples awake and unable to pray, and the disciples slept. Today we are tired, too, but let's win this and wake up and pray for even an hour. There are more titles to pray for than ever.
